Before and After: Hiroshima

Stopping by Hiroshima for a bit to see my grandparents for the first time in a little over a year. We had trouble finding each other since we all changed so much. I think my photo taken circa March 2014 speaks for itself.

I mean, LOL
Boy have I changed.

A three and a half hour Shinkansen ride that was well worth the trip.

A trip to Hiroshima is not complete without some Okonomiyaki. This is actually a "Hiroshima-style" Okonomiyaki.  There's also an "Osaka-style" and they're different depending on the regions, but don't call them "Hiroshima-style" or "Osaka-style" because the people in those regions will say that they're Okonomiyaki is the real one.
Typical family argument in my household since my parents are from those regions.

Shaved ice to cool down in the sauna-like hot and humid Japan weather.

...and maybe some gelato too.
It's summer, who cares.

Talk soon!

Tokyo Career Forum

Saturday:
There are days when it is just not my day. Today's that day.
I literally spent all morning lying down catching up on Vlogmas videos and then sitting down at the library reading document after document for my thesis...like I could not have been more mute and yet I feel absolutely drained. And I had actually intended to write a few pages for my thesis but I have absolutely no motivation and ended up doing the "easy stuff" and just collected data.

On a brighter note, I finally got a haircut. My reason for liking to have shorter hair in the winter is quite simple: I hate having my hair get static-y after wrapping it around with my scarf. Japan has this wonderful opportunity to be a "Cut Model" and get a haircut for maybe a fourth or a fifth of the original price. Basically, trainees or assistants of the salons practice different styles on you and maybe snap a few before and after photos. Some people prefer to have their hair done by professionals but ho…

GRADUATION and MOVING TO HAKATA

Hello again.
I'm alive and well and slightly busier/have more responsibility on my hands  since the last time that I posted. Let's just first begin by saying that I am officially a college graduate. Here's the cake and plate of gigantic Gyozas that I celebrated with:

I'm starting my new job soon in Hakata, which is located in the Fukuoka prefecture.  I've moved into my new apartment, which I'm really loving but the last two months have just been such a whirlwind of prepping for graduation, moving, and getting things ready for my new job, that I'm just glad I can see finally start seeing an end to the commotion. Of course work is going to be a whole new journey but for the time being, I'm glad I have a roof over my head. My room has this loft and the stairs going up to it is basically a bunch of shelves. It's my bookshelf for now and it's looking pretty cool. I have a couple more books getting sent over an…
